Columbus is the seventh-best metropolitan area in the United States for finding a satisfying job in a livable city, according to the latest ranking by workplace review website Glassdoor.
The capital city is followed in the top 10 by Cincinnati and Cleveland in the Best Cities for Jobs index – scored by ease of finding a job, job satisfaction based on the past year’s Glassdoor reviews and the city’s affordability.
Median base salary of $45,000 in Columbus was slightly higher than in the two other Ohio cities in the top 10, and average job satisfaction a smidge higher at 3.4 out of 5 compared with 3.3.
“Hot jobs” in Columbus right now are office manager, database administrator and restaurant manager.
The study’s top finisher, Pittsburgh, also has a lower median base salary at $44,000 and an average 3.2 out of 5 in job satisfaction. But it scored better in affordability and openings relative to population.
